SMM, November 26: According to customs data, in October 2024, China's total lithium carbonate import volume was approximately 23,196 mt, up 43% MoM, with an average import price of around $9,721/mt.

Among these, lithium carbonate imports from Chile were about 17,861 mt, up 28% MoM, accounting for 77% of the total imports; imports from Argentina were about 4,791 mt, up 136% MoM, accounting for 21% of the total imports. Chile and Argentina remain the main sources of China's lithium carbonate imports, maintaining a strong position. The volume of lithium carbonate arriving in China from Chile continued to rise in October. After four consecutive months of MoM declines in export volumes, Chile's lithium carbonate exports to China in October were approximately 17,000 mt, up 2% MoM. Considering the shipping cycle, it is expected that China's lithium carbonate import volume will continue to increase in November.
